It’s EE Day. Can you find your way?
It’s EE Day.  Can you find your way?

The EE day this year might be simple to you but for me, it’s quite special.

When I was at school one day, my classmate told me that someone gave me a badge. I took a look and found the words ‘English ambassador’ printed on it, which reminded me it would be the EE day soon and I must be busy for the whole day.

In the first recess, I went to the second floor to take part in ‘Shall we chat?’. Right after I put on the badge, four F.1 students rushed to me and asked me questions, and actually I was supposed to do that. Usually our junior students seem to have a greater passion to participate in ‘Shall we chat?’ than the senior. They enjoyed playing tongue twisters a lot and always wanted to challenge themselves. However, I don’t mean that the senior are not eager to do that. In my opinion, as a F.4 student, maybe they are just too shy to do so, or they don’t realize the meaning of participating in the activity.  Anyway when the bell rang, I thought I could have a rest in the second recess.

However it seems that life is not always easy. Since it was Friday, it was my turn to serve in the library as a librarian. This time, I had to switch my language into English. Jobs in the library are always easy for me but on EE day, it wasn’t. Sometimes I couldn’t express what I would like to say clearly in English. And that’s why we should take every chance to speak in English in order to improve ourselves and speak fluently. Though I needed more time to express myself, I think it’s still a good experience. ‘Please return it before…’ when I was saying this, a song was being played and I couldn’t believe that it was Mindy Gledhill’s ‘All about your Heart. It must be song dedication time. I would like to thank the schoolmates for choosing those wonderful songs. Frankly, those songs made me feel better in that hard situation.

Lunchtime was the freest time of the whole day. Just when I was enjoying my lunch at the covered playground, some girls were screaming excitedly because of something. I wondered what happened. Was it a signal of something?

Finally I knew what happened ----- it was the drama performance. This year we were so glad to have Chucky Onion to perform Sherlock Homes for us. It was great fun since their performance was so lively. Everyone enjoyed it and they paid great attention to it. Oh, let me tell you why those girls were so crazy during the lunchtime. They met the cast in the corridor and were attracted because the performers were so cute. Well I think this is impressing news because they could speak English as they were trying to know more about the actors and actresses. This time the senior showed a greater passion than the junior. See what I mean before? Maybe there are points for the senior to use English this time.

EE day this year is a great success, in my view. Everyone got the chance to chat in English, everyone enjoyed the drama and songs. They could buy English books with discounts in the parking lot. English is still the international language and it is important to handle it well. I do hope that everyone can find their own way to learn English. Learning English is fun and useful. So please pay effort to it. Cheers!
